TripStax alternative: how mTrip compares for TMCs and travel agencies

mTrip is a TripStax alternative for TMCs and travel agencies that want the traveler side of the trip under their own brand: a white-label app, itinerary documents and traveler tracking in one platform. This page compares the three areas where the two products overlap, using public sources reviewed in October 2026.

In three points

  • mTrip is a TripStax alternative in three places where the products overlap: a white-label traveler app, itinerary documents, and traveler tracking with risk alerts. Everything else TripStax sells sits outside mTrip.
  • TripStax is a wider TMC technology stack that ties its modules to one data engine. mTrip is narrower and deeper on the traveler side: itineraries, the branded app and duty of care.
  • mTrip documents three things that TripStax’s public pages leave open: the app published under your own store accounts, tracking for travelers who never install the app, and a login for each corporate client’s risk manager.

Method and scope

What is TripStax, and what is compared?

TripStax is a modular technology platform for TMCs, built around one central data engine. mTrip is a TripStax alternative for the three areas where both overlap: the traveler app, itinerary documents and traveler tracking.

TripStax also sells airline content, quality control, analytics and hotels. mTrip does not, so those are not compared. mTrip is not a CRM or a booking tool, and it is not built for solo advisors.

Why mTrip

Why TMCs and travel agencies choose mTrip as their TripStax alternative

mTrip white-label traveler app, a TripStax alternative with branded itineraries and flight alerts
A branded traveler app built with mTrip.

Give each corporate client its own branded app

mTrip configures one app per corporate client: its own branding, features, contact options and booking tool connection, with no new project each time. Publish it under your own Apple and Google accounts in 2 to 3 weeks, or start the same day with Trip Agent, a shared app in your logo and colors. See the business travel app.

See every traveler on the map, app or no app

mTrip shows every traveler with an active booking on one map, whether or not they installed the app. Travelers who opt in are located by GPS. Travelers without the app appear from their itinerary, pulled from your GDS, booking tool or back-office system. The map filters by account, country, destination or traveler, and GPS sharing stays opt-in, so each traveler keeps control of their own consent. Bookings made outside the main booking engine can be added by hand, so an independent hotel stays visible. Read more about traveler tracking.

Send travelers one itinerary, everywhere

Bookings from your online booking tool sync into the traveler’s itinerary, and GDS records arrive without re-entry. Each itinerary becomes a web page, a PDF from 20+ customizable templates, a Word file and the in-app trip, all kept in sync. Your team updates once and travelers see the same trip everywhere. Explore the travel documents.

Give each corporate client its own risk dashboard

mTrip gives each corporate client’s risk manager a login of their own, limited to that client’s travelers. They see the disruption dashboard (critical alerts, flight delays and cancellations, affected travelers and accounts, pending reviews), traveler tracking, country risk profiles for 206 countries and report export to Excel. Alert rules can be set per client, and alerts go out by push, email or SMS in the traveler’s language. Your own consultants keep one map across every account. Learn about the duty of care module.

Connect the systems you already run

mTrip takes bookings from Amadeus, Sabre and Travelport and syncs with Concur, Cytric, KDS and GetThere, plus back-office systems such as Cornerstone and TravelPerk. In-app messages can feed Zendesk, Missive or Genesys. Zapier, SSO and an API cover the rest, and the in-house team builds custom integrations when a client needs one. Details for developers.

Which one

Choosing a TripStax alternative: TripStax or mTrip

mTrip serves 300+ clients in 35+ countries, from TMCs with several corporate clients to travel agencies, tour operators and DMCs with real itinerary volume. It does not suit solo advisors. Start from the TMC solution or the pages for travel agencies and tour operators.

Choose TripStax if

TripStax is the better fit when one supplier should cover your booking back end and the traveler tools. Its modules for airline content, quality control, analytics and hotels sit on one data engine, which mTrip does not offer. Choose it if you want that single stack, you are a TMC, and you are comfortable asking for a quote, since it publishes no prices.

Choose mTrip if

mTrip is the better fit when the traveler experience is what you want to get right. It gives you your own app and documents under your brand, tracking that works for travelers who skip the app, and a risk dashboard each corporate client can log in to. Everything is set up per client and fed by the booking tools you already run, such as Amadeus, Sabre, Travelport, Concur and Cytric. Launch takes the same day with Trip Agent, or 2 to 3 weeks for a white-label app.

Typical fit

A TMC serving corporate clients

  • One app per corporate client, each with its own branding, features and booking tool.
  • Tracking, risk alerts and a risk dashboard login for each client, as an optional paid add-on.

Typical fit

A travel agency, tour operator or DMC

  • Branded itineraries as a web page, PDF and Word file, plus the traveler app under your own name.
  • An optional disruption module for travelers abroad.

How to evaluate

How to evaluate a TripStax alternative with your team

Before you compare quotes for a TripStax alternative, ask TripStax and mTrip the same five questions, in writing. These are the points where public documentation differs most.

  1. Whose store account is the app published under? mTrip white-label apps use your own Apple and Google developer accounts.
  2. How are travelers without the app located? mTrip uses GPS when the traveler opts in, and the itinerary when there is no app.
  3. What can each corporate client see and control? Ask about branding, features, booking tool and a login for the client’s risk manager.
  4. Which of your systems must connect? List your GDS, booking tool, back-office system and support tool, and ask for named integrations.
  5. What does it cost for the same trips and travelers, and when does it go live? Get the setup fee, the monthly fee and the launch timeline in writing.

The duty of care software checklist covers the same questions for any vendor.

Pricing

Pricing: TripStax vs mTrip

TripStax publishes no prices. Its site says transaction fees are paid once, however many modules a client uses.

mTrip has two options. Trip Agent has a monthly fee by itinerary volume, no setup fee by default and no long-term commitment. The white-label app has a project setup fee, a monthly fee by volume and a one-year term. Neither is per seat. A free trial follows a demo, and duty of care is an optional paid add-on.

Neither vendor publishes a rate card, so the fair way to price a TripStax alternative is a quote for the same number of trips and travelers. Ask both.

Getting started

Moving the traveler layer to mTrip

As a TripStax alternative, mTrip takes bookings from your GDS, online booking tool or back-office system. Trip Agent starts the same day after a demo. A white-label app typically goes live in 2 to 3 weeks, depending on integrations.

Whether mTrip can read bookings held in TripStax’s data engine is a question for the demo call. That route is not publicly documented by either vendor.

Questions TMCs ask

Frequently Asked Questions

Is mTrip a good TripStax alternative?

For TMCs and travel agencies that want a white-label traveler app, itinerary documents and traveler tracking, yes. mTrip covers those three areas. It does not offer TripStax’s airline content, quality control, analytics or hotel modules, so it replaces the traveler side of TripStax, not the whole stack.

What does TripStax do?

TripStax supplies modular technology to TMCs, built around a central data engine called The Core. Its public modules cover analytics, airline content, approvals, traveler profiles, quality control, documents, duty of care tracking, a mobile app, a client portal and hotels.

Does mTrip offer a white-label app like TripStax?

Yes. mTrip builds a native iOS and Android app configured for each corporate client and published under your own Apple and Google developer accounts, with your name and icon, so you own the store listing. TripStax does not say publicly whose account its white-label apps use. Trip Agent, a shared app in your logo and colors, is the faster starting option.

How does mTrip track travelers who do not install the app?

From their itinerary. Travelers who install the app and opt in are located by GPS. Travelers without the app appear on the same map from their booking data, and bookings made elsewhere can be added by hand.

Does mTrip offer duty of care and risk alerts?

Yes, as an optional paid add-on. It includes traveler tracking, real-time risk alerts, country risk profiles for pre-trip assessment, a disruption dashboard, and push, email and SMS messaging. The duty of care software checklist lists what to ask any vendor.

Which systems does mTrip connect to?

mTrip connects to GDS, online booking tools, back-office systems and support tools. GDS: Amadeus, Sabre and Travelport. Booking tools: Concur, Cytric, KDS, GetThere and Atriis. Back-office: Cornerstone, TravelPerk and Airgateway. Support tools: Zendesk, Missive and Genesys for in-app messages. Zapier, SSO, SDK and an API cover the rest.

Can each corporate client have its own branding and features?

Yes. Each corporate client gets its own branding, features, contact options and booking tool connection, without a new project. Risk alert rules can also be set per client.

Does mTrip provide medical or evacuation response?

No. mTrip is a software layer for tracking, alerts and messaging. Your team or an assistance provider handles medical, security and evacuation response.

Does mTrip replace our booking tool or GDS?

No. mTrip is not a booking tool. It connects to Amadeus, Sabre and Travelport and to Concur, Cytric and KDS, then handles what the traveler sees and what the risk team can do.

How does mTrip pricing compare with TripStax?

Neither publishes a rate card. mTrip has two options. Trip Agent has a monthly fee by itinerary volume, no setup fee by default and no long-term commitment. The white-label app has a project setup fee, a monthly fee by volume and a one-year term. Neither is per seat, and a free trial follows a demo. TripStax says transaction fees are paid once however many modules are used. Ask both for a quote based on the same trips and travelers.

How long does it take to launch with mTrip?

Trip Agent starts the same day after a demo. A white-label app typically goes live in 2 to 3 weeks, depending on integrations. TripStax describes a three-step process and does not publish timelines.

Is mTrip only for business travel?

No. The same platform serves TMCs and also travel agencies, tour operators and DMCs. It is built for organizations with real itinerary volume, not solo advisors. The travel agency software guide ranks seven platforms across both segments.
